Magic staff Runescape

Basic Staves

These staves are intended for beginners and so there are no requirements to wield them.

Even if you are starting out, you can still have an unlimited supply of certain runes through use of an elemental staff. Remember the type of staff it is represents what runes you will NOT need (i.e. Staff of fire requires no fire runes)

Mindspike

Available during the tutorial, the Mindspike staff can take the form of air, water, earth or fire. Each form removes the need for runes of that type. To change the staff's form, unequip it and right-click 'Change element'.

Battlestaves

Battlestaves are stronger than normal staves, giving good bonuses so the staff can be used as a melee weapon. However, you will need 30 Attack and 30 Magic to wield any battlestaff. Remember, the type of staff it is represents what runes you will NOT need (i.e. Fire battlestaff requires no fire runes).

Skeletal battlestaffs require a shade skull from the Shades of Mort'ton minigame to be attached to the equivalent battlestaff. This is a cosmetic change only.

Other Staves

&& Won on the Squeal of Fortune. This item has several different forms that it can turn into but is effectively one item.

# Zuriel's staff is capable of casting elemental attack spells as well as Ancient Magick spells, and adds 10% to any magic damage you cause while wielding the staff. In addition to this, it gives mages using Ancient Magicks access to a further branch of the spellbook.

This item comes in one of two states - one with full requirements that will last an hour; the other with level 20 requirements that will last only fifteen minutes.
