Registering an e-mail to your account makes it even easier to recover your account in the event you forget your password, but it’s also a great way to keep pesky hijackers locked out of your account. It’s really important that you maintain high levels of e-mail security though, so enable two-factor authentication to your e-mail wherever possible.

We often find people have their personal information compromised which leads to easy access to their e-mail accounts, and therefore their RuneScape accounts, so it's really important you keep your information to yourself and never tell others details which may jeopardise your security.

Any accounts created after January 11th 2012 will use an email address to act as their login name and their main means of controlling changes on their account.

• Login names are unique, and at present it's not possible to change your login name
• You can even have the same email registered to multiple accounts!
